Salil Joshi

Director of Program Management – Nashua

Some call it multi-tasking, I call it doing something else while I am trying to remember what I doing at first place

What I like best about my job in Parallel Wireless is the primary responsibility of getting involved with the customers and solving their problems. We often realize that our customers are indeed Parallel Wireless in disguise since we all share the common vision of “Connecting the Unconnected”. Along with that, I also like the interaction across all functional areas within Parallel Wireless. These interactions offer me the unique opportunity to learn new things about the company, the business, competitors, engineering and occasionally the finances.

The team is the soul of Parallel Wireless. It is humbling to be around so many talented individuals, be it from RF engineering, Business Development, Hardware engineering, Software development, System Engineering or Sales & Marketing. Parallel Wireless has gathered a diverse talent base in a short amount of time which otherwise could have taken years for some organizations to achieve.

The telecom field is changing with every passing moment. As a young engineer working on SS7 Voice core gateway, when someone claimed that “voice will soon be free commodity in the network”, I was taken aback. Later, the unprecedented growth of the Internet along with the changing nature of telephony, introduction of data, and enigmatic journey of phone devices proved that claim was right. But this was 20 years ago! And even today, we are at a similar crossroads with the goal of bringing speed to the network.

As many operators are upgrading from 3G to 4G, we are providing unconnected areas around the world with the choice to go directly to 4G at a cost that is unheard of and with a clear path to 5G. I am as excited to play a part in that transition with Parallel Wireless as I was 20 years ago!!
