Parallel Wireless Reaches All G O-RAN Solution Milestone

Parallel Wireless   May 12, 2021

Parallel Wireless’s Open RAN vision has always been that rural macro success is a natural and necessary pre-requisite for enabling the superset of features required for urban network scenarios. More than 50 Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) including Inland Cellular and OptimEra in North America, Vodafone in Ireland, Africa, and Turkey, and Optus in Australia, have successfully deployed or trialed rural 2G, 3G, and 4G from Parallel Wireless. Concurrently, Parallel Wireless has advanced through the 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance release roadmap and now our innovative cloud-native, All-G Open RAN solution is supporting the foundational features and capabilities for strong network performance in high-capacity urban environments.

Operator challenges and how Parallel Wireless solves these challenges:

MNOs face many challenges on their network transformation journey. The following describes their challenges and our solutions:

Innovate – MNOs are often looking for ways to upgrade their networks to stay current with end-user demands. Our cloud-native, state-of-the-art features such as RAN automation, self-configuration, hands free software testing, integration and delivery, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) enable seamless software upgrades, utilizing data to optimize network performance in urban environments enabling MNOs to innovate while delivering optimal subscriber throughput and quality of service.

Futureproof – MNOs are managing 2G, 3G and 4G networks while planning future 5G and beyond upgrades. With our ALL G, cloud-native, O-RAN compliant Open RAN solutions, MNOs can cost-effectively deploy, upgrade, expand and maintain wireless networks with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) vBBU hardware enabling 7.2 radios and a broad ecosystem of partners, creating networks of the future.

End-user Experience – Optimizing network performance especially in dense, urban environments can be challenging.  Advanced broadband services such as IoT require ubiquitous coverage. MNOs need networks that provide strong network performance, enabling quality of service anytime and anywhere, especially during peak hours. Our ALL G, Open RAN solutions support foundational features and capabilities delivering strong network performance in high-capacity urban environments, providing best-in-class end-user experiences.

Reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) –
MNOs need to minimize Capital Expenses (CAPEX) and Operating Expenses (OPEX) while new services are being added. There are costs incurred to maintain quality of service while increasing the number of users, costs to upgrade power, and associated Network Operation Center (NOC) and management services costs. With our container based DU/CU implementations, across ALL Gs our Open RAN solutions enable TCO savings while enhancing time to market for new services and features.
