Parallel Wireless Advances 6G Evolution with UNITY.AI for Adaptive RAN Intelligence

AI adaptation infrastructure embedded in platform-agnostic radio software, advancing principles fundamental across all RAT’s and towards the  evolution of 6G

NASHUA, N.H. – February 23, 2026 – Parallel Wireless®, a U.S. company pioneering energy-efficient Open RAN solutions, today announced UNITY.AI™, AI adaptation infrastructure embedded within its industry-leading, platform-agnostic GreenRAN solution. UNITY.AI delivers adaptive optimization across inherently heterogeneous RAN environments, addressing a fundamental challenge as mobile networks become denser, more diverse, and more dynamic: static, one-size-fits-all optimization models no longer scale.

UNITY.AI brings machine-learning-based intelligence directly into the 4G, 5G, and future 6G RAN execution path, enabling each site to learn from real operating conditions and continuously optimize performance in real time, while remaining fully 3GPP-compliant. Built on Parallel Wireless’ hardware-agnostic UNITY RAN software platform, UNITY.AI operationalizes per-site optimization at scale, allowing networks to adapt efficiently without imposing uniform hardware or algorithmic assumptions.

The evolution toward 6G is defined by several essential capabilities that are already becoming critical in 5G, including embedding AI into radio software, integrating sensing directly into the RAN, and enabling mass optimization- the ability to apply independently trained algorithms across sites, spectrum, and users. UNITY.AI brings these principles into production networks today, with a software upgradeable path to 6G on COTS hardware, making adaptive optimization practical across real-world deployments.

“Our vision for the GreenRAN is hardware and algorithm variety for optimal efficiency,” said Steve Papa, Founder and CEO of Parallel Wireless. “The industry has benefitted greatly by NVIDIA’s AI-RAN efforts creating awareness to the urgent importance of AI in the evolution toward 6G, however we live in a multi-RAT world, where previous generation of RAT should also enjoy the benefits. In the same way Huawei’s SingleRAN showed the benefits of all-G support in the transition to 4G, Parallel Wireless UNITY.AI will do the same for the AI transition”.

Built on Parallel Wireless’ hardware-agnostic software platform, UNITY.AI™ is designed to run consistently across heterogeneous compute environments, allowing operators to select the right mix of CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators for each deployment scenario while preserving a software-upgradable future. The same software, including AI layers, can leverage diverse instruction sets and acceleration capabilities across platforms such as AMD EPYC™, Ampere® Arm-based processors, and NVIDIA GPUs, enabling efficient use of both general-purpose processors and GPU-based acceleration. This flexibility allows operators to optimize edge and centralized deployments independently, balancing performance, power consumption, transport constraints, and TCO—without fragmenting the network architecture or becoming locked into inflexible baseband ASICs that cannot be upgraded with advanced AI capabilities.

“UNITY.AI showcases how the performance and scalability of AMD EPYC CPUs, can increase capacity and reduce power consumption and overall TCO in a heterogeneous RAN, from large centralized to macro distributed deployments,” said Kumaran Siva, corporate vice president, Compute and Enterprise AI, AMD. “We are excited to collaborate with Parallel Wireless to accelerate the enablement of these products in commercial networks.”

In suburban, rural, and small-cell environments, UNITY.AI uses Arm-based platforms to efficiently scale from performance oriented centralized installations to energy-efficient, compact, edge-friendly deployments, ensuring the right level of intelligence is applied on the right compute platform for each deployment scenario.

“Ampere’s scalable processing products complement Parallel Wireless’ UNITY.AI line of flexible software platform for RAN. The new Ampere Arm-based vBBU is  a compelling  fully software-based, passively cooled RAN appliance enabling high performance deployments in suburban, rural and capacity in-fill deployments” said Sean Varley, Chief Evangelist & VP Business Development at Ampere. “The deployment of UNITY.AI’s adaptive performance capabilities on our platform is a remarkable advancement to software-only, sustainable DUs while retaining headroom for compelling features like AI inference in the RAN.”
